I’m Shoumik Chowdhury, the author of ShineCraft Garage. My approach to car care is a little different. While many guides focus mainly on telling you what product to use or which steps to follow, I’m equally interested in understanding why those products and methods work in the first place.
I hold a B.Tech in Polymer Science, giving me a technical foundation in materials relevant to automotive surfaces and protection — polymers, coatings, hydrophobic behaviour, UV degradation, and material durability. This background helps me look beyond product labels and marketing claims to understand how car-care products actually interact with paint, plastics, glass, and rubber.
I also hold an MBA in Marketing, which gives me a second useful lens: understanding how products are positioned and promoted to consumers. At ShineCraft Garage, I use that to look past impressive packaging and bold claims, and focus on what a product is actually designed to do — and whether it’s worth it for everyday car owners.
Together, these two perspectives are why ShineCraft Garage exists: to turn the science behind car care into clear car detailing DIY guides you can actually use, without unnecessary jargon or marketing hype.
Why I Created ShineCraft Garage
I created ShineCraft Garage for people who want to take good care of their cars but don’t have unlimited time to spend doing it.
Whether you’re a busy professional, a parent, a daily commuter, or simply someone who enjoys keeping your vehicle in good condition, car care should be manageable. Not every task needs professional-level equipment, a complicated 20-step process, or an entire weekend.
My goal is to find the sweet spot between effectiveness and simplicity — small, well-chosen actions that make a meaningful difference without taking over your schedule.
